Family-friendly restaurants in Venice:
where to eat with kids
Visiting Venice takes a lot of energy: long walks and countless bridges will definitely work up an appetite!
That’s why one essential thing to plan during your stay is a list of places where to eat in Venice with kids.
But what makes a restaurant truly child-friendly in Venice?
When travelling with children, families usually look for easy-going and relaxed places, a child-friendly menu, space for strollers, high chairs, outdoor seating, and good value for money.
These features are not always easy to find in Venice, especially near the main tourist attractions.
That’s why we’ve put together this list of our favourite kid-friendly restaurants in Venice, divided by sestiere (district), where you can enjoy a relaxed meal after sightseeing with your family.
OUR FAVORITE KID-FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS
IN VENICE BY SESTIERE
San Marco
Rossopomodoro
Located just a few steps from St Mark’s Square, this restaurant is perfect after visiting Piazza San Marco, the Basilica and the Doge’s Palace.
Here you can enjoy pizza, pasta and salads in a lively but not stressful atmosphere. A big plus for families: they are very flexible with opening hours, so you can usually get pizza at almost any time of the day.
Antico Calice
Close to the Rialto Bridge, this very typical Venetian restaurant is often frequented by gondoliers. It’s a great choice for families looking to try good pasta dishes, seafood and traditional Venetian cuisine in an authentic setting.
Castello
Trattoria alla Rivetta San Marco
Just one bridge away from St Mark’s Square, this is one of our favourite spots in Venice. The space is small and cozy, but you’ll find excellent traditional cuisine and friendly, experienced local staff.
Al Giardinetto da Severino
Just outside Campo Santa Maria Formosa and not far from Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo, this restaurant is a true oasis of calm. You can enjoy a relaxed lunch, especially in the lovely garden, while tasting classic Venetian dishes. Extra plus: special attention to gluten-free guests, as the restaurant is part of the Italian Celiac Association (AIC).
Cannaregio
Trattoria Bar Pontini
A visit to the Jewish Ghetto is a must for many travellers and can easily be combined with a walk along Fondamenta della Misericordia and a stop at Madonna dell’Orto.
After all that walking, you can relax at this traditional trattoria, conveniently located not far from the train station and bus terminal—ideal when travelling with kids.
San Polo
Birraria La Corte
After visiting the Rialto Market and the Frari Basilica, head to Campo San Polo, where you’ll find this spacious restaurant with a large outdoor seating area. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, including pizza. If you sit outside, kids will have plenty of space to move around, which is always a win for parents!
Dorsoduro
Antica Locanda Montin
After reaching Punta della Dogana, visiting the beautiful Basilica della Salute, or enjoying some art at the Guggenheim Museum or the Accademia, this restaurant is a perfect place to recharge and is very popular with locals. Expect generous portions and a very characteristic atmosphere. In the warmer months, dining under the shady outdoor pergola is simply wonderful.
Santa Croce
Muro San Stae
Set in a quiet part of Venice, not far from the Museum of Natural History and Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio, it is a relaxed, kid-friendly restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. Their menu includes simple dishes as well as pizza, making it a great choice for both adults and children.
PRACTICALITIES FOR EATING OUT IN VENICE WITH KIDS
In Italy, lunch is usually served between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm, and dinner between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm.
Our tip: always book in advance whenever possible. Waiting for a table is something neither adults nor children really enjoy!
Of course, there are many other great family-friendly restaurants in Venice. During our tours, we’re always happy to share more tips and customize our suggestions for families travelling with kids 😊
