A Mask Workshop Experience

a must-do in Venice for kids

Masks workshop in venice

Why so many mask shops in Venice?

Venice is the heart of Carnival, and even if you visit at other times of the year, you’ll spot mask shops all over the city. Some of them even let you try your hand at decorating a mask in a fun little workshop! This is one of the most popular activities for families with kids, and it’s really for all ages… adults love it too!

How does a mask workshop work?

The masks are already made for you—starting from scratch would take too long, as building up the layers of papier-mâché is a lot of work. Usually, you can choose from about twenty plain white masks, then decorate them however you like. The workshop staff are always happy to give tips on colors, shapes, and decorations like sequins, feathers, and pearls. Once your masterpiece is finished, it will be dried and carefully packed so you can take it home safely.

Where to book a mask workshop?

Venice Kids Tours does not organize the workshops directly. If you wish to book a workshop or need more information, please contact the workshops directly. On this map, you’ll find our trusted partners and our favorite workshops, with links to their websites.

Price and duration?

The cost is usually around €50 per person (about 1 hour), depending on the workshop. Some parents like to let older kids manage on their own while they enjoy a coffee nearby, while others prefer to join in and make it a fun family experience.
