Scavenger Hunt in the Doge’s Palace: Casanova’s prison break
TOUR DESCRIPTION
This tour takes place inside the magnificent Doge’s Palace, the seat of Venetian government for over a thousand years. Designed as an entertaining and educational scavenger hunt for kids, the visit invites young explorers to actively discover the Palace’s grand institutional rooms, richly decorated by leading Renaissance artists, as well as the historic prisons, including the famous Bridge of Sighs.
Through games, clues, and observation challenges, children learn about Venice’s history in a fun and engaging way, while adults also gain deeper insights into the city’s political system and its remarkably effective system of justice.
THE STORY
We will explore the most important museum in Venice by following in the footsteps of a truly fascinating character: the irresistible Giacomo Casanova. Imprisoned in the Doge’s Palace, he famously attempted to escape — and after an initial failure, he finally succeeded, accomplishing one of the most daring escapes in history.
Officially, Casanova was jailed for minor crimes, but the real reason for his imprisonment was never fully revealed, leaving behind a trail of mystery and unanswered questions. Through clues, riddles, and careful observation, our young detectives will try to uncover the truth hidden within the walls of the Palace.
Ideal for kids aged 5–12 (with a simplified preschooler version for younger siblings), but very interesting and informative even for adults.
Indoor scavenger hunt with game booklet based on a mystery to solve through riddles, puzzles, games such as “join the dots, put the letters in the correct order, multiple choice quizzes and things to find around).
